Job Summary
- Assists the cook in preparing and serving well-seasoned, attractive, delicious meals to patients and employees, according to the established policies and procedures.
- Has an understanding of basic food preparation safety in food service work, personal hygiene, and infection control.
- Participates in maintaining the dietary department in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Maintains responsibility for own professional growth and development.
- Maintains a professional image within the hospital.
Education/Experience Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or job experience equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow written and oral instructions given in English.
- A minimum of one year’s experience in quantity food cookery is preferred.
- SafeServe Certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed while standing or walking.
- Will be required to exert considerable physical effort in moving or lifting supplies and food items.
