Cook – Full-Time

Job Summary

  • Assists the cook in preparing and serving well-seasoned, attractive, appetizing meals to patients and employees, according to the established policies and procedures.
  • Has an understanding of basic food preparation safety in food service work, personal hygiene, and infection control.
  • Participates in maintaining the dietary department in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Maintains responsibility for own professional growth and development.
  • Maintains a professional image within the hospital.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or job experience equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow written and oral instructions given in English.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience in quantity food cookery is preferred.
  • SafeServe Certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing or walking.
  • Will be required to exert considerable physical effort in moving or lifting supplies and/or food items.

  • Shift: Days/Evenings/Weekends
  • Reports To: Dietary Manager or Registered Dietician in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
