With a sneak peek of where we are heading!
Bunkie General is excited to announce the advancements coming to Bunkie General Health Systems! Several facility, technological, and service updates have been made recently, currently underway, or will be started in the near future.
We just recently completed renovations at both the Rural Health Clinic and Family Care Clinic, with necessary changes for infection control, efficiency, and patient/staff safety. We now offer Telehealth Visits (when appropriate), which is an added convenience/safety for our patients. Family Care Clinic now offers CDL & FAA Physicals with Dr. Roger Blanchard, while Rural Health Clinic now offers Well Child Vaccinations with Olivia Vasquez, FNP, the same as Janelle Juneau, FNP, at Family Care Clinic.
At the hospital, we have completed the renovations to the North Wing adding patient suites, which are double the size of the original rooms with a modern and sleek design for patient safety and comfort. We are in the final stages of renovating our nurse’s station with the same sleek and modern design that will be carried throughout the hospital in the future. The new nurse’s station is not only larger, but has a new layout geared towards efficiency and safety.
Our Swing Bed Program, Out-Patient Therapy (PT, OT, and ST), Wound Care Clinic, Cardiac Rehab, Fitness Center, and Out-Patient Lab, Radiology, and Respiratory Services continue to thrive and grow!
This past year we added full-time Speech Therapy to round out our therapy team. This has allowed us to grow our Out-Patient Therapy Department by leaps & bounds, and we also remain the only facility in the Parish to perform Modified Barium Swallow studies with a full-time certified Speech Therapist on site to evaluate the patient while the test is performed.
Our Laboratory Department purchased new equipment that is capable of handling our increase in workload by being able to analyze more tests, faster. We also remain the only facility in Avoyelles Parish to offer PCR testing for Covid, Flu, RSV and Strep, as well as Theapeutic Phlebotomy.
Throughout the year, we have added additional security features to all 3 facilities for the physical safety and wellbeing of patients and staff. We have also increased education, changed workflows/pathways, and added more high tech digital security to help secure and protect electronic health records, as one can never be too cautious in this day and age.
We also saw the establishment of our nonprofit organization, The Generals of Hope and our first annual Night of Hope Gala, which raised money for Breast Cancer Awareness. All money raised went to Miles Perret Cancer Center in Lafayette and Baton Rouge General’s Breast Cancer Foundation. We can’t wait to see what else The General’s of Hope do in the future!
In January 2023, our Radiology Department will be debuting our new state of the art, 80 multi slice, Canon Aquillion Prime CT Machine. It has the ability to scan more patients, with the only 694 pound high capacity couch in the Parish once here, we will be able to better serve larger patients who would normally have to be transferred. And with its industry-leading, automated dose reduction capabilities, it will improve patient safety and increase quality of care. Click HERE to learn more!
Bunkie General Health Systems is committed to advancing our facilities and services, with an eye for modern technologies and sleek design aesthetic, with safety and efficiency our top priorities. We are determined to continue to provide expert care at our hometown hospital. And stay tuned, as there are even bigger changes yet to come!
